The promise of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for everyone and energizing science to find the cures. The Organization runs one of the most innovative, responsive grant programs in breast cancer today. Our Affiliate is proud to have sent nearly $1.5 million to the Organization for research to date. In addition to funding research, the Affiliate funds non-duplicative, community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment projects for the medically underserved in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. In 2012-2013, we funded $589,181.80 to local community programs. The Inland Empire Affiliate has funded nearly $5.5 million to local community programs for breast health education, diagnostic services, treatment support programs, patient navigation services, as well as interpretation services throughout San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.
We have two locations to serve the Inland Empire. Our main office is located in Temecula and through a generous donation, the Komen Inland Empire Breast Cancer Resource Center opened in January 2010. The Komen Affiliate goals are to increase breast health awareness and offer women and families residing in the desert cities a place to gather life-saving information and support.

Information about Mammograms:
Mammography is the best screening tool for breast cancer used today. It can find cancers at an early stage, when they are small (too small to be felt) and most responsive to treatment. Mammograms can be done in:
- Certified radiology and imaging centers
- Mammography clinics
- Hospital radiology departments
- Mobile vans
- Some physicians’ offices
Certified Mammography Facilities:
Click here for a list of certified mammography facilities located in Riverside or San Bernardino Counties as of July 2012.
Every Woman Counts Program
Call 1-800-511-2300 Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Every Woman Counts (EWC) provides free clinical breast exams, mammograms, pelvic exams, and Pap tests to California’s underserved women. The mission of the EWC is to save lives by preventing and reducing the devastating effects of cancer for Californians through education, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, and integrated preventive services, with special emphasis on the underserved. EWC is part of the Department of Health Care Service's Cancer Detection and Treatment Branch (CDTB).
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® recommends that you:
1. Know your risk by learning about your family health history and talking to your health care provider about your personal risk.
2. Ask your doctor which screening tests are right for you if you are at a higher risk. Have a mammogram every year starting at age 40 if you are at average risk. Have a clinical breast exam at least every 3 years starting at age 20 and every year starting at age 40.
3. Know how your breasts look and feel and report any changes to your health care provider.
4. Make healthy lifestyle choices:
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Add exercise into your routine
- Limit alcohol intake
- Limit post menopausal hormone use
- Breastfeed if you can
